Mirwaiz Umar Farooq calls Peshawar attack 'anti-Islam'

The chairman of moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Wednesday called the ghastly attack on a school in Peshawar as 'anti-Islam'.

"Yesterday's incident is against humanity and is anti-Islam. No matter how much you condemn this terror attack it will be less. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are with those of Pakistan in this sorrow and we express our solidarity over the incident," said Farooq while holding a march with black flags against the attack.

"Today we have organized special prayer meeting not only to pray for the deceased souls but also to pray for the courage and the people and the parents of those children who have lost their lives. We pray to Allah to give peace to all the souls and give strength and patience to all the parents and families who have lost their loved ones," he added.

Farooq further said that those responsible for this act are not only against Pakistan but against humanity and Islam.

"It is against the basic principles and the basic teachings of Islam. Those doing this in the name of Islam have nothing to with Islam, they are the enemies of Islam and of humanity," Farooq said.

"This incident cannot be taken in isolation. It is a clear indication of frustration and desperation on the part of these elements who have crossed all limits of humanity. We should be very unequivocal in condemning this incident," he added.

Mourning the Peshawar attack, the schools across India observed two minutes of silence and a candle light vigil was also witnessed in various cities.

India has offered all possible help to Pakistan in the wake of the incident. A total of 141 people, including 132 students and 9 staff members were killed in the terror attack.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the attack. The spokesman for the organisation stated that the attack was revenge for the Pakistani military's operations in the North Waziristan tribal area.
