Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi presided over the mass murder in the Gujarat riots, and that his dream of becoming the prime minister of the country would never come true.

"Narendra Modi presided over the mass murder in Gujarat and then the BJP goes on to apologise after the mass killing of Muslims," said Yadav.

"Muslim community is an intelligent and loyal one. They know what is happening. Modi's dream of becoming the prime minster would never come true," he said.

"When the Gujarat riots happened, I was denied permission to enter the state, still I went there without caring for security, and that showed my courage," he added.

He further said that the Congress and the BJP had no vision for the country.

"Congress and BJP are the same. They have no vision for the country, while the Samajwadi Party is concerned about whole country," said Yadav.

"The 2014 Lok Sabha polls are not a fight of numbers, but of development. Samajwadi Party does not make hollow promises, we will do as we say," he added.

Speaking at the "Narendra Modi's Mission 272+: Role of Muslims" summit attended by members of the party's minority cell, BJP Chief Rajnath Singh had urged Muslims to give the BJP a chance to govern and vote in favour of the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"If we have ever committed any mistake, I assure you that we will bow down and ask for forgiveness," Singh said.

The BJP chief was apparently referring to the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat, over which Narendra Modi has faced repeated criticism.
