Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi should be sent to Pakistan, few days after BJP leader Giriraj Singh stirred controversy saying Modi's opponents have no place in India and are Pakistan bound.
Interacting with reporters in Patna Yadav said that the Gujarat strongman should be send to Pakistan.
"Narendra Modi should be sent to Pakistan. When he will go there, he will come to know, why he is sending others?" said Yadav.
Yadav was reacting to the statement of Pakistan's Home Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan's statement that Modi's election as prime minister will destabilise the region.
Yadav's remark evoked a sharp reaction from BJP leaders.
"It seems half of Lalu's mind is not working and after the election results it will stop working completely. Lalu should hear and understand that people of India want Modi to become the Prime Minister of the country," said senior journalist and BJP member, M.J. Akbar.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy took a jibe at Yadav, saying he was busy with fodder scam.
"Modi will be felicitated in Pakistan in a big way. The envoy of Pakistan had met me and said that but sadly Lalu cannot understand Foreign policy as he is busy in fodder scam. The civil society in Pakistan is waiting to welcome Narendra Modi," said Swamy.
