Ahead of the commencing of the 16th Lok Sabha session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday pledged that he would make all efforts to meet the expectations of the people.
"Today, Lok Sabha is commencing. I want to assure everybody that in this temple of democracy, all efforts will be made to meet the expectations and aspirations of the people," said Modi.
"The people of this country have given their blessings to their representatives by voting in huge numbers and have elected the 16th Lok Sabha," he added.
Earlier, Congress leader Kamal Nath was sworn-in as the Protem Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He took oath at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The parliament was convened thereafter, and adjourned after paying tribute to former rural development minister Gopinath Munde, who died in a car accident on Tuesday, and formal acceptance of the list of Members of Parliament.
