More buildings for ITBP, Rs 1260 crore sanctioned

Minister of State for Home Affairs R P N Singh on Thursday announced that the government has sanctioned Rs 1260 crores for construction activity at Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) posts at various places.

"It includes jawans accommodation, construction of forward locations and other operational and administrative buildings and structures," he said at the 52nd ITBP Raising Day parade here.

He further said that measuring eco friendly stride towards energy requirement, a total 69 forward Posts of the ITBP would soon have 3 to 10 KVA solar power plants which will facilitate the uninterrupted power supply for various needs on the respective Posts.

Singh said that the ITBP is one of the most efficient central armed police force of the Union.

"The tasks assigned to the ITBP are multifarious in nature still the force keeps high traditions of valour and steadfastness. Being deployed in the high Himalayas, the working conditions for the personnel of the force are quite difficult in the Force. Government is trying to offer all possible measures to make the functioning of the force more humane," he added.

Director General, ITBP, Dr Mahboob Alam, highlighted the achievements of the force in unprecedented rescue and relief operations in Uttarakhand, and assured that the force would continue to serve the country with full enthusiasm.

R P N Singh conferred Police Medal for Gallantry, President Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service to the ITBP officials.
