Manchester United manager David Moyes has told Wayne Rooney that he could go on to become one of the greats at the club with the amount of goals he can score.

According to the Mirror, Rooney had his head turned by Chelsea this summer but decided not to hand in a transfer request after United refused to sell him.

Moyes believes Rooney, currently on 197 United goals, can go on to beat Sir Bobby Charlton's club record haul of 249 and become an Old Trafford legend, the report said.

The manager said that the challenge had been set for the striker and although he had already reached great heights, this could be a great opportunity.
