Mozilla is reportedly planning to add a new revenue system by selling ads in Firefox for its new tab page.

Mozilla plans on populating its new tab page by putting visited websites on the page, but that is said to happen only if the history is not empty.

According to Tech Crunch, publishers will be able to purchase sponsored tiles that will appear alongside normal tiles, with a clear "promoted" label.

Firefox has signed an agreement to make Google its default engine.

At present Mozilla earns about 90 percent of its revenue from ads in Google.
