Madhya Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker and senior Congress leader Harvansh Singh died of cardiac arrest here today. He was 63.
His last rites will be performed with full state honours this evening.
Singh, who is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter, has handled many portfolios in the state over the last decade as a reputed Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh.
He had a long career in politics, initially as a President of Seoni district Youth Congress Committee in 1971, Vice president MP State Handloom in 1983-86, and chairman in 1986-88.
In 1993 Singh was first elected as member of Madhya Pradesh State Legislative Assembly from Keolari constituency. He was also a Cabinet minister during the Digvijay Singh Government in the state.
