Mukherjee to attend national voters' day celebrations tomorrow

President Pranab Mukherjee will attend the National Voters' Day celebrations on Saturday at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The National Voters' Day is celebrated by Election Commission of India every year as a measure to enhance participation of citizens, especially the youth, in the democratic electoral process.

The Commission's objective is to make Universal Adult Franchise a complete reality and thereby enhance the quality of Indian democracy.

As such January 25, 2011 was celebrated as the first "National Voters' Day".
