Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and Samajwadi Party leader Munavvar Saleem has written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of cow slaughter and offered some suggestions.
He called on the government to prepare a precise list of all those who deal in the sale of ageing cows and impose strict ban on both purchasers and sellers.
He further suggested that cow shelters should be opened and that dead cows should also be cremated.
He also emphasized on the need to ban on the sale of different parts of the animal like its head, horns and flesh in the open market.
The Samajwadi Party MP claimed that Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar had banned cow slaughter and those who violated that order during his reign were given death sentences.
