Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has reportedly opted not to take up a wild card place in the Heineken Open in New Zealand as he builds up to the Australian Open, which starts on January 13.
According to the Daily Star, the world No.4 has played just two singles matches in Qatar since returning to action following back surgery.
However, the report mentioned that the Scot has turned down the chance of getting in more competitive action ahead of the Australian Open.
Meanwhile, Murray had admitted that it would be 'unrealistic' of him to expect to win the Australian Open later this month as he attempts to recover his sharpness for Melbourne following his recent back surgery.
