North Korean Foreign Minister Ri- Yong on Friday met Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven.
The meeting was held amidst speculation of the bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un which may held in Sweden in March end prior to US-Korea meeting in May, reports the Yonhap News agency.
The bilateral talks between Yong and Lofven focused on Sweden's consular responsibilities for United States, Canada and Australia with regard to United Nations, as per media reports.
Sweden is currently a non-permanent member of the United Nations.
Earlier in the day, Yong met Swedish counterpart Margot Elisabeth Wallstrom to discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual concerns.
Sweden, which has an embassy in Pyongyang, has been frequently used as a communication channel between the U.S. and the North.
