Nagaland man designs his own sound system

Lanu Jamir, a promising entrepreneur from Nagaland, recently designed and launched his own sound system under the brand name of 'ZipSound'.

The sound system was launched through his Zip Engineering and Innovation Centre, which specializes in designing and building speakers and amplifiers. The components of the sound system have been built entirely by Jamir at his workshop.

Jamir, based in Aoyimti village in Dimapur District, expressed his willing to train interested youngsters.

"I have spent more than six to seven years working on these speakers only. So, I really encourage our young people. If they are interested to work like me, I am always ready to help them. For them to know this, it will hardly take a week or month, whereas I have taken five to six years for these researches," said Jamir, Innovator and Proprietor of ZipSound.

"Definitely, I will be the happiest person if any of the Nagas or any of the young person comes and approaches me. I will teach them whatever I have learnt," he added.

Jamir's tryst with electronics began as a young boy when he tried fixing his father's radio. After numerous successful inventions at home, he went on to study electronics in Bangalore and later started working there. He had launched an online UPS repairing service, which had to be discontinued because of financial crunches.

Keeping in mind the difficulties he had faced, Jamir is now keen to teach and encourage youngsters willing to follow in his footsteps.

Hill Praise Music Academy Director Manen Jamir said the system is of very good quality.

"Being a musician myself, I have used many different music systems. But this particular zip sound system has a very unique quality. It has a very quality sound. Technically, I can say that it can produce almost all different sound frequencies that human ear can possibly hear. I think it will be a great benefit for the country if zip sound system is introduced in the international market," he said.

Alila Jamir, the entrepreneur's wife, expressed her delight over his success.

"Till date, I am supporting him. For the future also, I'll do the same. I am very much happy that he has so much of talent," she said.

While his systems look small in size, they require less electricity than most of the major brands, while giving out twice as much output with zero noise.

Music being an integral part of life in Nagaland, the manufacturing of this indigenous sound system is expected to get a good response.

There is a large pool of talented youth in the northeast. With little encouragement and support, they can do wonders and bring laurels for the country.
