Remembering Mahatma Gandhi on his 146th birth anniversary, the state government today observed National Cleanliness Day by holding a function at the Gandhi Memorial Hall here.
Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and his deputy Gaikhangam were the chief guest and functional president of the event, and paid floral tribute at the base of statue of Gandhi in the G M Hall.
Before the function, a mass cleanliness awareness rally was taken out by the Imphal Municipal Corporation and the Bishnupur Municipal Council, where hundreds took part.
Senior cabinet ministers and MLAs, top brass civil and police officials also attended the observation along with a good number of state government officials led by the state Chief Secretary O. Nabakeshwore.
