Nawab of Najafgarh bids adieu to cricket

Flamboyant opener Virender Sehwag on Monday announced retirement from international cricket. He made this announcement in Dubai.

The 'Nawab of Najafgarh' holds multiple records including the highest score made by an Indian in Test cricket (319) and the fastest triple century in the history of international cricket (he scored 300 in 278 balls).

Sehwag played his first One Day International (ODI) in 1999 and joined the test team in 2001.

He became the first Indian cricketer to be honoured the 'Wisden Leading Cricketer' in 2009.

Sehwag has played 104 tests and scored 8,586 runs at an average of 49.34. He has scored 8,273 runs at an average of 35.05 in 251 ODIs.
