With less than three weeks left for commencement of the second phase local polls in the Nepal plains, the new session of parliament began on Monday starting with discussions over the budget.
However, Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar adjourned the session for the day after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal did not address the Parliament.
Sources claim that the government is preparing to increase the number of local levels in the Terai region as per the demands of the agitating people.
Sources added that the government would increase at least 15 numbers at the local levels in the 19 districts of the Terai region.
The agitating parties, representing the Southern Plains of Nepal, have long been demanding for an amendment in the constitution as well as increase in the number of local levels. Though the government has tabled new amendment bill in the parliament, it is yet to move the bill.
Last week Dahal led government withdrew the false cases filed against the innocents after pressures from the Madhesh and Tharuhat.
Previously, it also granted Martydrom status to the deceased Madheshi people and warded them compensations.
