Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's grand nephew Sugata Bose, who met Union Home Minister Home Minister Rajnath Singh here on Tuesday, requested him to declassify all the files more than 50 years old.

"He told me that on the basis of the facts he will talk to the Prime Minister. I said all the files more than 50 years old should be declassified and it shouldn't be selective. There is a lot of unnecessary speculation about Netaji," Bose told ANI.

He requested that a decision regarding the matter should be taken at the highest political level.

"I also told him that this decision should be taken at the highest political level because the surveillance was done by the officials of the IB and the Home Department. The successors of those officials today can't take a decision on this," Sugata Bose added.

Bose had also raised the issue of surveillance and declassification of files related to Netaji in the Parliament today.

Earlier, two declassified Intelligence Bureau files had revealed that former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru-led government had order surveillance on Netaji's kin between 1948 and 1968. The files reveal that the IB had resumed British-era surveillance on the two Bose family homes in Calcutta at Woodburn Park and Elgin Road.
