New Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has formed an Indigenous Advisory Council to reform its welfare system for bringing advantages to country's first peoples.

The council will focus on creating jobs, cut down on bureaucracy for aboriginals, who have migrated from Africa and arrived in Australia about 50,000 years ago, and boosting economic development, the BBC reports.

Tony promised to continue his practice of living in a remote indigenous community for at least one week each year to see the crushing impact of disproportionately high rates of unemployment, alcohol abuse and ill health.
