The Department of Health in Washington DC has proposed a new regulation, suggesting that a tattoo artist cannot apply a tattoo, or even do body piercings, until at least 24 hours after a client requests it.

According to Fox News, if the 65-page proposal is implemented, then the city would be one of the few places in the country that imposes a waiting period on tattooing and piercing.

The proposal also prohibits the tattooing of anyone under the age of 18, require that the operators and artists be licensed, as well as outlining exactly what equipment can be used, and how to maintain it.

The 65-page proposal includes various other regulations for tattoo parlors.
