The market ended with heavy volatility straining the Sensex down 57.58 points at 26846.53. The Nifty slipped 11.90 points trading at 8131.70.
Coal India, Lupin, ITC, Bajaj Auto and BHEL were amongst the top gainers while ONGC, Hindalco, Vedanta, Tata Steel and Infosys were losers.
P S Jayakumar, the former chief executive of VBHC Value Homes, today took charge as the new MD and CEO of the Bank of Baroda.
Among the few buzzing stocks was Jet Airways, which surged over 10 percent in intraday trade. Reliance Capital too was up over 6 percent in intraday trade.
