The Northern Commander of the Indian Army Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh on Saturday urged students of Sainik School, Kapurthala to strive for excellence and put in their sincere efforts in realising their potential in scholastic and non-scholastic pursuits.
Addressing the students of Sainik School, the Northern Commander of the Indian Army exhorted them to be worthy of the high traditions and ethos of the school. "You have a responsibility to carry forward a honourous tradition of dedication and excellence built over the years by cadets who have passed out before you," he said. While motivating them to join the Armed Forces, he expressed his confidence that the cadets would prove worthy of their expectations and wished them continued success in all their endeavours.
Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh also congratulated the faculty for their services, keen involvement in imparting a high standard of training and winning the Defence Minister's Trophy and for sending the highest number of cadets to the National Defence Academy (NDA) for a record seventh time. He further praised the school for having the maximum number of serving teachers who have been recipients of the prestigious President's Teachers Award.
Later, during the day, the Northern Commander of the Indian Army also attended the Old Boys' Association Meet, where he recommended the authorities to contribute towards further growth of the school and provide the required assistance to train the cadets for Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) interviews.
Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh, who is an alumnus of the Sainik School, received a guard of honour by a contingent led by the school captain. Notably, he is the first student from the school to have risen to become an Army Commander in the Indian Army.
