Former South Africa Test captain Graeme Smith has joined his former Australian counterpart Ricky Ponting to support ousted England batsman Kevin Pietersen's view that there is a bullying culture in their national team.
The matter is a focal point of controversial South Africa-born batsman Pietersen's autobiography released in the UK this week. Smith said that bullying was an issue in the England camp and it is a weakness opponents could cash in on.
Smith said that some of the stuff in the book he can believe and having played against Pietersen South Africa always said that if they could get a win and get ahead they would turn on each other, Sport24 reported.
The former South Africa skipper said that a lot of the stuff Pietersen has touched on in his book, the bullying stuff, one experienced playing against England and used it as an asset against them.
Smith said that Pietersen is a drawcard and the world loves to watch him play the game, adding that it is sad that he is not playing international cricket anymore and man-management is a big factor in why he is not there.
Pietersen has scored 8,181 runs in 104 Tests for England at an average of 47.28, and made 817 of them (average 45.38) against South Africa in 10 encounters, the report added.
