Overwhelmed by Barack Obama's statement wherein he called Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'India's Reformer-in-Chief', the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said that the U.S. President's remark reflected the 'sentiment of the world'.
"Barack Obama rightly praised the PM of India. It reflected the sentiment of the world. He is looked upon as the chief of Indian reformist. Investment is an integral part of India. Prime Minister Modi has seen every walk of life. He is walking in the path of Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi," said spokesperson Sambit Patra.
Describing the Prime Minister as India's "reformer-in-chief", U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday said that the former's rise from poverty to be the leader of the world's largest democracy reflects India's rise in the comity of nations, as also its dynamism.
In an article for the Time magazine, which has just announced that Narendra Modi is one of the 100 most influential people of the world in 2015, President Obama has praised Modi for his ambitious vision to help more Indians to overcome socio-economic injustices like poverty, lack of education and disempowered women.
"Determined to help more Indians follow in his path, he's (Modi) laid out an ambitious vision to reduce extreme poverty, improve education, empower women and girls and unleash India's true economic potential while confronting climate change," said President Obama.
He concluded his article by saying that, "Prime Minister Modi recognizes that more than one billion Indians living and succeeding together can be an inspiring model for the world.
