Opposition's statements are helping Pakistan: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday came down heavily on the opposition parties for allegedly making irresponsible statements, which have apparently helped Pakistan in attacking India.

Addressing a public meeting here, Prime Minister Modi said: "These people should introspect as to what they are saying that their names are being praised in Pakistan's Parliament. Not only that, it is their names that are being used to target India. Why are they doing such politics, which is benefitting Pakistan?"

Prime Minister Modi also alleged that the entire world was seeking a reply from Pakistan while some politicians are giving out statements, "which can weaken the morale of our forces."

"It is unfortunate that at a time when the entire world is demanding an answer from Pakistan, it is our people who are giving out statements which weaken the morale of our security forces. In their hatred for Modi, they have started hating the country," he said.

His remarks come in the wake of some leaders questioning the air strike carried out by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on February 26 at JeM camp in Balakot, deep inside Pakistan, 12 days after the terror outfit attacked a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, killing 40 personnel.

This is the first time since the 1971 Indo-Pak war that the Indian Air Force carried out strikes in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Modi also accused the opposition parties of being corrupt. "It is his government, which is working fearlessly as we do not have anything to hide," he said.

"We do not have any baggage. We are not afraid that tomorrow there will be a case against us. Only those who have done wrong are afraid. Our opposition is scared. Some of the senior leaders in our opposition are busy establishing their children in politics," he said.

Sharpening his attack further, Prime Minister Modi said: "They want to remove Modi because he is bringing about a positive change in the lives of the poor, middle class and the marginalised sections of the society."

"On the one hand, we are punishing the dishonest and corrupt. On the other, we are rewarding the honest by providing them with an exemption in income tax. We have also slashed GST for the under-construction properties from 12 per cent to 5 per cent," he said.

Prime Minister Modi also said the Central government has approved the demand for creating South Coast Railway zone, which will be headquartered in Visakhapatnam.

"It will create jobs, improve the economy and develop the region. It reflects NDA's commitment for the development of Andhra Pradesh," said Prime Minister Modi.
