Pak Interior Ministry approves special powers for Rangers in Punjab

Pakistan's Interior Ministry has approved special powers for Rangers to launch anti-terror operations across the country's Punjab province.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, National Security Advisor Nasser Khan Janjua, Secretary Interior, Home Secretary, Punjab, Inspector General of Police, Punjab and other senior officials attending a meeting in this regard in Islamabad okayed the proposal, Radio Pakistan reports.

It was agreed that the Rangers would be deployed for sixty days under Anti-Terrorism Act.

Khan said the federal government is determined to eliminate terrorism from the country and would steadfastly pursue the policy of providing every possible assistance to the provinces for the purpose.
