Security and strategic affairs expert Uday Bhaskar on Tuesday said that Pakistan's attempt to internationalize the border issues and requesting the United Nations (UN) to intervene is going to be futile as the Secretary General of UN has already made it clear that India and Pakistan should resolve all their outstanding issues through a mutual dialogue.
"Last week the UN Secretary General had made it clear that India and Pakistan should resolve all their outstanding issues through a dialogue. So the inference that follows is that Pakistan's attempt at trying to draw international attention is not likely to succeed," Bhaskar told ANI.
Meanwhile, political analyst and bureau chief of Syrian Arab News Agency Dr Waiel Awwad also said that Islamabad had received a setback.
"I think it is a setback to Islamabad, because to raise this issue in front of the UN general secretary is a clear indication that there is a frustration in the Pakistani side either from no response of India or because the provocation at the border has reached to a point where it needs intervention," he told ANI.
"Both sides have agreed that only a composite dialogue can deal with the bilateral issue, therefore inviting the UN at this stage and juncture does not really serve the purpose of having a peaceful solution when both the countries have agreed to do so bilaterally," he added.
Earlier on Saturday, Pakistani National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz had dispatched a letter to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for assistance in solving the long-running dispute with India over Kashmir.
In his letter, Aziz accused India of deliberate and unprovoked violations of the ceasefire and blamed India for the deteriorating situation along the Line of Control.
