The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried out community policing in the red corridors of Jharkhand on Tuesday in order to create awareness among uninformed villagers about the need to fight the Maoists.
As part of campaign against them, the CRPF has been setting up camps for the past 80 days in different parts of the state to minimize the influence of Maoists.
Assistant Commandant of CRPF AK Mishra said that community policing was conducted in the backward areas in order to make contact with the people living there.
"The main motive of this camp is to create awareness to fight the Maoists. Areas like Opag and Kharwar village are very backward and have become their main hub. Therefore we have set up a permanent camp and taken this initiative to know the people in this area," said Mishra.
The CRPF officials conducted a civic action in Opag by distributing bags, notebooks and other items to school children and utensils to the villagers.
Ajay Kumar, a local school teacher, said that this initiative will motivate the children to attend school.
"This community action has helped poor parents and it will also inspire children to attend school," said Kumar.
