The Supreme Court of Pakistan has reportedly suspended the decision of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) of reinstating Mohammad Zaka Ashraf as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
A three-member bench of the apex court heard the case against Ashraf's reinstatement on a plea filed by the government's Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), which said that the IHC's intrusion in matters of policy might lead to undermining the sport of cricket.
According to The Dawn, after annulling IHC's decision, the court issued notices to the parties involved for May 27 and adjourned the hearing of the case.
The report mentioned that the government petition had pleaded before the SC to set aside the high court order and restore Najam Sethi's authority along with the Interim Management Committee (IMC) set up on Feb 10 for 90 days.
On May 17, the IHC had suspended a management committee appointed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and reinstated Ashraf as chief of the cricket board, the report added.
