PCB chief admits ECB unhappy over Latif's appointment as Pak chief selector

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi has reportedly admitted that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had been unhappy over former Pakistani captain Rashid Latif's appointment as chief selector.

Sethi said that he had nominated Latif as chief selector despite common knowledge that the ECB did not appreciate his support of Danish Kaneria's case.

Sethi said that the former skipper had agreed initially but then changed his mind, adding that this might be because Latif did not understand the potential power he could have wielded in the crusade against corrupt players, the Dawn reported.

Media reports claim that Latif had said how could the PCB deny that the ECB had expressed its reservations over his appointment due to his support of Kaneria when he had been informed by none other than Sethi himself.

Latif had said that he was only fighting to get justice for Kaneria because he feels that PCB and ECB might have wrongly banned him, adding that he believes it is unfair that PCB is pleading the case of Mohammad Amir despite undeniable evidence of match fixing instead of Kaneria, even though there was only circumstantial evidence against him.
