PCB chief confirms Azhar, Hafeez will end camp boycott

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shahryar Khan on Saturday confirmed that both Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez will return to the training camp after the duo refused to train with disgraced paceman Mohammad Amir, who served a prison sentence and lengthy ban for his role in the 2010 spot fixing scandal.

Confirming the news, Shahryar, who met both players ahead of their arrival at the training camp, said that the issue pertaining to Amir had been resolved, but added he agrees with some reservations held by both players, the Express Tribune reported.

The PCB chairman further said that he had urged senior players and captain to take the recalled paceman forward, stating that they hold a greater responsibility to ensure Amir feels at ease.

Earlier, the 23-year-old left hander was included in the 26-member national fitness camp in Lahore for the upcoming limited-overs series against New Zealand, which could pave the way for his return to the national squad.

Amir displayed impressive form in domestic matches as well as in the Bangladesh Premier League after ending his five-year ban for spot-fixing three months ago.

Considered as one of the most promising talents, Amir had taken 51 wickets in 14 Tests and 25 in 15 one-day internationals before he was handed a five-year ban for bowling deliberate no-balls by pre-arrangement during the fourth test against England at Lord's in 2010.
