Pellegrini hopes for 'verbal agreement' to turn into 'signed contract' with Man City

Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly said that he has had a verbal agreement with Manchester City on replacing manager Roberto Mancini, hoping that the deal soon becomes official.

Pellegrini indicated that he had an understanding of what City's hierarchy would demand of a new manager, the Guardian reports.

The Chilean coach said that he has always liked challenges and is delighted at the chance to construct an infrastructure which is as much important as winning, although he added that the objective for him is not restricted to titles.

Pellegrini insisted that football is not just about winning, but about image as well, and his new job will be to help build a club that has resources, stability, a long-term plan and plays attractive football, adding that better the football, better is the chance of winning.

The coach also said that as the new City manager he would want the team to win and entertain at the same time, indicating that he is aware of the approach City CEO Ferran Soriano and director Txiki Begiristain want for the team.

Stating that City has a great squad and people who are very clear about where they want to go and how the club should develop, Pellegrini backed City midfielder David Silva as the kind of player who can make a difference to the team.

Pellegrini further said that though English football has evolved a lot in recent years he will not have any problems in adapting.
