The people of Kolkata expect Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to present a 'middle-class friendly' Budget for fiscal 2015-16, on Saturday.
"Being a common citizen we need cheaper market price, lesser taxation from the mediocre section of the people. This much will do for us," Proloy Basu told ANI.
"We are pension holder so I hope it is within our reach. The market rate should be the same; it will be difficult if it increases," said another local here.
"I am expecting it to be good. Cost reduction should be there," added a local resident.
Arun Jaitley will present his first full-year budget in Parliament today, seeking to put the country on a path of 7-8 percent growth over the next two years.
The 2015-16 Budget is being billed as a 'make-or-break' event for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's eight-month-old government.
It is expected to give a big push to Prime Minister Modi's 'Make in India' campaign, with tax breaks and other incentives for several sectors.
Markets witnessed a surge ahead of the presentation of the Union Budget 2015-16 as the Sensex shot up 250 points to reach 29476 and the Nifty was up 70 points at 8916.
