Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday complimented the entire ISRO fraternity for their magnificent achievements in the last year.

Interacting with the Chairman of ISRO, Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, project directors and key executives of the recently launched eight Indian space missions, Dr. Singh said: "Those involved in space science research, the engineers, the scientists, they all make us feel very proud of the role that space scientists, space engineers are playing in ensuring that space technology becomes truly an instrument of national development and also our security concern to the extent that they require the support of the space program."

"You are doing wonderfully well, and I would like to complement and congratulate each one of you and all those who are engaged in these nation-building activities. Space has become an instrument of national development in a manner which was never envisaged some two to three decades ago," he added.

"That you have risen to the occasion is something which makes the nation feel very proud of your role. So, my very best wishes, my congratulations, you have done exceedingly well. But, as I often say, the best is yet to come, and you have my very best wishes to scale new heights," Dr. Singh said.

The Prime Minister also stated that the successful launch of GSLV-D5 flight, in January 2014, has been a landmark achievement towards self reliance in the complex cryogenic technology that is paramount to launching heavier satellites from India, apart from establishing confidence in our GSLV.

He further wished all success for the forthcoming crucial operations of Mars Orbiter spacecraft and stated that this mission will mark the beginning of a new glorious chapter for India in Space explorations.
