PM Modi attends inauguration of dynamic facade lighting of North, South Blocks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday attended the inauguration of new dynamic lighting of North and South blocks in the capital here.

The new dynamic facade lighting, installed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which is spread over an area of 21,450 square meters, was inaugurated in the presence of Prime Minister Modi and his cabinet colleagues, including Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The new lighting of the two famed buildings was switched on by the senior most support staff of the Home Ministry, Mahipal Singh. It started around at 6:30 pm on Wednesday.

The lighting that changes colour every few seconds has the potential to present an amazing 16 million colour combinations, displaying a wide range of patterns and themes.

Philips Lighting has created the dynamic facade.

The new lighting will be on show from 7.00 pm to 5.00 am all through the year with full capacity prime time lighting from 8.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

The Central Vista used to be lit up on eight select days in a year that lasted for a few hours on the iconic North and South Block buildings.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri and many of the cabinet ministers were also present.
