Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammad Najib Tun Abdul Razak, who is on a six-day visit to India, was welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday and was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Prime Minister Razak later paid tribute at Rajghat, memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi.

Prime Minister Modi and his Malaysian counterpart are expected to hold delegation-level talks in the national capital.

The two leaders are expected to discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations. Various issues, including terrorism, are expected to come up during the talks. A number of bilateral as well as commercial agreements are also likely to be signed.

Prime Minister Razak's high-level delegation consists of several cabinet ministers and senior officials. He will also be accompanied by a large business delegation consisting of many of the top companies and businessmen of Malaysia.

Prime Minister Razak arrived in Chennai on Thursday. He took some time off to meet Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Friday evening.

"Just had a very warm n friendly meeting with Mr Rajnikanth the Tamil superstar at his home," he tweeted.

"Who doesn't know @superstarrajini ? Happy to meet the superstar in person today," he said.

Rajinikanth, who shot parts of movie 'Kabali' in Malaysia last year, had expressed his wish to meet Prime Minister Razak when he was in Malaysia.

This is Razak's third visit to India as Prime Minister. The last one was in 2012.

His visit follows the highly successful visit of Prime Minister Modi to Malaysia in November 2015.
