While expressing views over the clash of heavyweights in Varanasi today, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday opined that the words used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are not the language of democracy.

Emphasising on the importance the campaigning for the last phase of elections hold, RJD leader Manoj Jha said Varanasi is witnessing an unprecedented kind of electioneering.

"It also tells you that certain things are not right with our democracy. The way lowering of this course has taken place, it has actually disturbed the rhythm and has made several people feel that this is the kind of democracy we wanted where the opponents shall be treated with the choicest of words," Jha told ANI.

"The words used such as 'Shamshan, Kabristan' are not language of democracy," he added.

Whereas, Janata Dal (United) (JD (U)) leader Sharad Yadav also stressed on the importance Varanasi holds as a constituency.

"Varanasi is an important constituency. When the entire government has concentrated on it, then the opposition is also trying to give a strong fight," he said.

Prime Minister Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati will descend on Varanasi today, campaigning ahead of the last phase of UP polls.

Prime Minister Modi is to hold an election rally, whereas the SP-Congress duo will be seen conducting a road show.
