Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday recalled his recent visit to educational institutions in Japan and said that that India should adopt some of the Japanese practices.

Addressing the teachers and students on the occasion of Teachers Day, Prime Minister Modi said, "In Japan, the people give importance to learning and not just teaching. And I saw that parents do not restrict themselves to only dropping their children to school."

Prime Minister Modi also recalled an interaction that he had in Japan regarding cleanliness.

"In Japan, someone told me that they have a tradition of cleaning rooms and classes together. Why can't we have that here?" he asked.
