Manipuris residing in Delhi staged a protest here on Monday outside a police station in Delhi's Kotla Mubarakpur area, where a 30-year-old man from Manipur was beaten to death overnight.

The president of the Naga Students Union Delhi, Maivio said, "Till now, around 100 such cases have been registered and 300 complaints have been received, but the government has not done any justice. We expect something different from the new government."

"It is very unfortunate to say that again one of our brothers has been brutally killed. Since we have a new government, we hope something different this time. We expect that justice will be given. Since the Nido Tania case various commissions have been formed and around 100 cases have registered and 300 complains have been received but still we haven't got any justice so far," said Maivio.

"We are in touch with the victim's friends and relatives. He was staying here with his younger sister, and when the incident happened he was coming back from Munirka to his place. We have give a written complaint and two eye witness are still at the police station," he added.

Meanwhile, the victim's lawyer Varnika from the Human Rights Law Network informed that the culprits will be charged under section 302 for murder and 153 for racial attack and an SCST act will also be put because the deceased belonged to the tribal community.

"Around five to six people were their in the car which was a white coloured Hyundai Verna and these three friends were inside the auto. The auto stopped and then ones inside the car came out and started beating them. They caught all three but out of them two ran away and the one left they beat him to death. The two friends who had run away they called the PCR van and after one to two hours when they returned back they found the victim's body in an unconscious state. Later he was brought to AIIMS trauma center," said Varnika.

She added that the police has gone for the identification andafter that the body will be sent for postmortem.

A 30-year-old man from Manipur was allegedly beaten to death by a group of locals overnight in the city's Kotla Mubarakpur area.

The brutal incident took place reportedly at 2.30 a.m. when the Manipur man named Saloni was brought dead to AIIMS hospital. A legal process would be inquired by the police in this matter.
