PTI workers vandalise party office in Karachi

The workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vandalised a party office here on Saturday.

The PTI workers broke into the premises of the Insaf House and smashed down doors and shattered windows. They also wrote on the walls of the party office which read - 'Karachi president usurping seats of candidates unacceptable PS-102' and 'Go Arif Alvi Go', Geo News reported.

The workers were unhappy with PTI chief Imran Khan's decision to field Firdous Shamim Naqvi as the candidate to contest from PS-102 in Karachi.

Local police later arrived at the scene and was not allowed inside the Insaf House by the party officials, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

He added that the scuffle broke out due to an internal matter within PTI.

It has been learnt that Imran will contest from the NA-243 constituency in Karachi for the upcoming general elections, according to the report.

Hence, other PTI leaders are keen to contest the polls in provincial assembly constituencies (PS-101 and PS-102) along with Imran.

Taking cognizance of the incident, the local party leadership has said that it will take strict disciplinary action against the workers who were involved in the incident.

Pakistan will go to polls on July 25. For the time being, the country is governed by an interim government headed by former Pakistan Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, who was sworn-in on Friday.
