'Queen of Soul' Aretha Franklin, who passed away on August 16, has not left a will behind.

As per the court documents, the singer died 'intestate', which means she didn't sign any will before her death, reported TMZ.

According to the law in the state of Michigan, where the singer died, her four children will equally share her estate. One of her children, son Clarence, is a person with special needs.

The 76-year-old songwriter who was ill for a long time had retired from touring because of her deteriorating health. The star performed only on a limited basis in the past few years, her most recent appearance was in last November at an Elton John AIDS Foundation event.

Her family has planned an open casket ceremony at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit city.

The singer is well known for her hits like 'Respect', 'Natural Women', and 'I say a little prayer'.
