The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said rainfall is likely to get subsided in places like Delhi, Telangana, and western Uttar Pradesh from September 2 onwards.

Earlier this day, the national capital along with Telangana, Hyderabad received heavy rainfall that lead to traffic congestion and water logging conditions in several parts of the states creating harrowing conditions for commuters.

The IMD officials at the national capital stated that the intense rainfall was expected.

"This morning Delhi had an intense rainfall where some parts of the city reported 60-70mm of rainfall. Similar situation occurred at Hyderabad as well in which 70mm rainfall was recorded," B.P. Yadav, Director, IMD, said.

"The rainfall was expected. Since conditions for monsoon became active and western disturbance occrued and created moisture . The condition led to cyclonic circulation that hovered over Haryana and Telangana which caused rainfall," he added.

B.P. Yadav, however, predicted that Delhi may get another short spell in the evening but will get subsided in the following days.

Massive jams were reported on major roads in Delhi and Gurugram. Police issued an advisory on Twitter asking people to be "patient and disciplined" and "stick to their lanes".
