Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar on Tuesday said that it seems like Katju is trying to please someone to get new assignments, by raising the Madras High Court issue so late.

Anwar told ANI, "I can't say how much truth is there in Katju's statement. He kept quiet when in the seat of judge and now it seems like he is trying to please someone to get new assignments."

"It would have been acceptable had Katju done this long time back. But now different meanings will be scooped out of it," he added.

Katju had claimed yesterday that a district Judge, who had several allegations of corruption against him, was not sacked and was elevated to the post of additional judge of the Madras High Court owing to the pressure put on the UPA Government and the judicial collegium by a Tamil Nadu-based party.
