The Rajasthan government has handed over the probe of the multi-crore mining scam to the Lokayukta.

The state government also revoked the leases of over 600 mines that were issued during the tenure of former principal secretary of mines, Ashok Singhvi, who has been arrested and jailed on charges of bribery in allotment of mines.

Governor Kalyan Singh has asked the Lokayukta to inquire into the allotment of mines deed, irregularities, and role of officials and fix their responsibility.

Lokayukta will also give suggestion to contain such irregularities in mines deed allotment in future.

Singhvi is among the eight persons who were arrested recently by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in a case of bribery involving Rs. 2.55 crores.

The Congress Party had earlier demanded the sacking of Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, alleging a Rs 45,000 crores scam in the allocation of mines in the state.
