Controversial 'godman' Sant Rampal, whose bail in a 2006 murder case was cancelled by the Punjab and Haryana High Court today, will be reportedly produced in court at around 2 p.m. on Thursday.
The self-styled godman, who was arrested from his ashram by the police last night, however, told media persons today that all charges against him were false.
According to reports, he was picked up from his Satlok Ashram at around 9.20 p.m. on Wednesday, and then taken to a nearby police station.
He had been eluding arrest and had held hundreds of his supporters captive at his Ashram who worked as his shield against the state's law enforcement authorities.
About 15,000 supporters of Rampal have been evacuated from the ashram while six persons have died in the incident and 450 have been booked for breaking the law.
Thousands were still holed up in the sprawling compound, which suffered huge damage after police breached a human chain of men, women and children in a bid to arrest the 63-year-old Rampal.
Police officials said the bodies of five women and one infant had been found. There were no bullet marks or injuries on the dead and they did not die in the rescue. Their bodies will be sent for post-mortem examinations.
