Post the cabinet meeting held earlier today, Union Law and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced that the prices of onions and minerals have been revised.
"Minimum export price of onion has been revised to USD 350 per tone," said Prasad. On July 2, the Centre had also imposed stock holding limit for onion and potatoes to control hording activities.
Prasad also announced the revision of the rates on minerals, saying, "The cabinet approved hike in royalty rates of minerals with a few exceptions like lignite and nickel."
The rates of major minerals which were supposed to be revised in every three years were last revised in 2009.
Along with Prasad, the cabinet meeting held earlier today was attended by leaders like External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani.
