The Janata Dal (United) has asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to reflect upon its deeds before pointing fingers at others over stalling parliament on the demonetisation issue.

"We have always supported demonetisation and as far as the Prime Minister's accusation against the opposition over parliament being stalled is concerned, the BJP should go through the archives and see the period between 2009 and14. They should examine their behaviour in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha and should take note of it," J.D (U) leader Rajeev Ranjan told ANI.

Ranjan reasoned that Prime Minister Modi has failed to gauge the mood of the House which has resulted in frequent disruptions.

"The responsibility falls on the ruling establishment to make sure that the floor of the House functions smoothly. They should have engaged the opposition in the running of the House. It seems that the Prime Minister has never gauged the mood of the House, and that is why, the logjam is persisting in parliament," he said.

Prime Minister Modi, who addressed the 'Parivartan rally' at Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, via phone, said parliament wasn't being allowed to function "by the very parties who have been discarded by the voters."

He further said the Centre was ready for a debate in parliament, but the opposition parties were preventing it.

"They (opposition) come to the Well of the House...throw papers at the Speaker. We want to put forth the government's view point...but they are not allowing us to do so," he said.
