A new study has revealed that regular aerobic exercise boosts memory area of brain and may help to slow down advance of dementia in older women.
According to the study, a twice weekly routine seems to boost the size of the area of the brain (hippocampus) that is involved in verbal memory and learning among women whose intellectual capacity has been affected by age.
The researchers found that aerobic exercise seems to be able to slow the shrinkage of the hippocampus and maintain the volume in a group of women who are at risk of developing dementia.
The study was published online in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
