Restoring peace in the valley paramount: Mehbooba Mufti

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday asserted that the withered relationship of India and Pakistan is adversely affecting the people in the region, while adding that her party is leaving no stone unturned in restoring peace in the valley.

Mehbooba while addressing the media here said that her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed wanted to take Jammu and Kashmir on the path of development and reduce the differences between the two nations.

"The relations between the two nations are not good and therefore, the people are suffering. There is firing on the borders and there is unrest. It is our main agenda to restore and maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed wanted to take Jammu and Kashmir on the path of development and make it a bridge between Indo-Pak. That's our agenda," Mufti told media here.

Mehbooba further said that she and her party are making all efforts to address the grievances of the people of the state.

"There's continuous firing at the border and unrest and strikes within the border. Our 1 year has wasted, we will try to recover that time and try to utilize that time. I am trying to go to every district and meet the people of that village and address to their problems. I cannot do everything but I will try to do as much as I can," Mufti asserted.

"People are our real strength, so they will not let their power get weak," Mufti added.
