Indian rower Dattu Bhokanal on Saturday progressed through to the quarterfinals of the men's single sculls event after finishing third in the first heat of the event here at the Rio Olympics.
The 25-year-old armyman, hailing from Maharashtra, crossed the finishing line with a timing of 7:21.67 at Lagao stadium.
Cuba's Angel Fournier Rodriguez finished first ahead of Juan Carlos of Mexico.
Bhokanal had secured his berth for the Rio Olympics after winning a silver medal in the FISA Asian and Oceanian Rowing championships.
