Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Ajit Singh has lost the Lok Sabha election from Baghpat to BJP's Satyapal Singh, a former Mumbai police commissioner.
Singh, former IPS officer, retired as Mumbai's police commissioner last year and joined the BJP.
The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections 2014 is underway and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading.
According to latest trends, the BJP is leading is 221 seats, with leads out in over 400 seats. At this rate, the NDA will get over 290 seats. The Congress is leading in only 52 seats, which shows that the party is headed to less than 100 seats.
